Our renovation · Kyoto

The home that
started Kyoto House.

Our own purchase and renovation brought together traditional character, contemporary spaces and the practical details of daily life.

A personal project

Making a Kyoto
house our own.

We worked with a local architect and builders to create a home for the way we wanted to live. The experience of making those decisions together now informs the support we offer clients.

This is a first look inside the finished house. Every photograph here is from our own home.

Character & material

Space to appreciate
the structure.

Visible timber and the staircase give the living space its character. The combination of wood, light walls and contemporary furnishings makes the room feel calm and lived in.

For your own project, we’ll help you discuss which existing features to celebrate and how new elements could sit alongside them.

What this means for your home

Your priorities shape the project.

A renovation starts with how you want to use a house. We help you work through layout, comfort and design choices with the architect and local team, so the decisions relate to your life as well as the building.
